Prerequisites:
Must bring proof of age: Candidate must be at least 15 years or older. Acceptable forms are:
Birth Certificate
License
Passport
Official ID
*** If attending the Recertification class must bring current active certificate.
Must be able to swim 300 yds continuously, in Freestyle or Breaststroke, while demonstrating rhythmic breathing. Goggles are allowed for this test ONLY
Candidate must be able to tread water for two minutes without the use of arms.
Candidate must be able to lift 10lbs and swim with item on chest in a timed test.

If any participant CANNOT complete the prerequisites, they will NOT be permitted to continue the course, and will NOT be issued a refund. The prerequisite test will take place at the beginning of the first class. All students who pass the prerequisite tes will continue in the course immediately.
Participants must attend the full course in order to obtain their Lifeguard Certification. NO MAKE UP DAYS WILL BE OFFERED. Please check your schedule in advance to make sure you can attend the full class time required.
Westfit has the right to cancel the course if the minimum number of students to not sign up in advance. If the course is cancelled Westfit will send out emails to students to notify them the class was canceled.
About the Course
This course is held through The Red Cross. After successful completion of this course candidates will hold a Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CRP and AED certificate. This certificate stays active for two years. Candidate can re-certify in a Lifeguard renewal course. If your certificate does expire, there is a 30-day grace period to complete a renewal course. Failure to renew the certificate within the 30 days will result in the expiration of your certificate, expired candidates will need to retake the Lifeguard course over to re-certify.
This course will be in the classroom and in the pool. The classroom section of the course will include lectures, videos, presentations, worksheets, written tests. The pool section of the course will include proof of swimming ability, practice of saving skills, back-boarding and final test of skills.
